1) Summer Breakfasts –
Summer means the right time to eat lots of fruits
a) Fruits to eat – Sweet mango, lychee, custard apple, orange, sweet lime, watermelon, muskmelon, and in dry fruits, definitely eat black raisins and dates.
b) Coconut water is the most effective drink to have in summer; besides this, you can also have fruit juices in the morning. Sattu drink, watermelon, muskmelon, cucumber, and gourd will prevent dehydration. Tea and coffee increase warmth in the body, so avoid them.
c) Besides fruits and juices, you can also have poha, idli, cornflakes, and sprouts for breakfast. This will not make your stomach feel too full and will also be light on digestion. Avoid spicy snacks.
2) Summer Lunch –
a) Roti – Wheat, jowar and cornflour bread must be eaten in this summer season because its effect is cold. Use equal amounts of wheat and jowar to make bread. It keeps the stomach fine and cool from inside.
Do not use millet, barley, ragi and nachani because they are hot which are good for cold weather.
B) Tempering – Use more ghee for cooking because it is cold and does help in digesting food. Reduces body heat and keeps it cool.
Oil has a hot tendency for body, so use it very less for cooking.
c) Vegetable – Bottle gourd, okra, spinach, flowers, gobi, leaves, gobi. Petha or pumpkin must be eaten in this season.
Do not eat hot vegetables like bitter gourd, drumstick, fenugreek, capsicum, because it increases the heat in the body.
d) Lentils – Must eat moong dal.
Do not eat urad dal, don’t eat grains like rajma peas which creates gas and are also difficult to digest.
3) Summer Dinner –
The less and lighter food you eat at night, the better. Making khichdi with moong dal and rice dal is the best for the stomach at night.
Some other things that should be eaten in the heat: Amla is the best, make and consume as many things from it as possible.
Fennel and vegetable water – mix one spoon of fennel in one liter of water and use it throughout the day, as soon as the water is finished, mix it with more water and drink.
Drink made from sattu – keeps the body cool and prevents dehydration.
Coconut water – if you don’t want to go through the hassle of making something, drink coconut water.
Mint – make a paste of mint and when thirsty, mix it in water and drink, this will quench your thirst and you won’t feel thirsty repeatedly.
Cucumber – it is 95% water, beneficial for keeping the body hydrated.
Healthy and tasty drinks for Summer :-
Let’s make some healthy drinks whenever you feel like having something healthy and cold too.
- Lemon juice – First, we will take basil seeds; we should take it in good quantity as it keeps our body cool in the summer. Basil seeds you can easily find in supermarkets, at Bansari’s shop, or online. First, we will soak basil seeds for 3-4 hours. We can add it to any drink. The most important ingredient is lemon, which is full of vitamin C and should definitely be taken in the summer. Cut the lemon and extract its juice. Now, mix the extracted lemon juice and soaked basil seeds in cold water and drink it well. It feels very fresh and also gives you a lot of energy.
- Sattu Sharbat – After grinding chickpeas, it is called Sattu flour, which contains important minerals like protein, calcium, iron, manganese, and magnesium. Add four to five tablespoons of chickpeas powder to a glass. Now add 250 ml of water. Squeeze in a little black salt and half a lemon, mix well, and your Sattu sharbat is ready. If you feel tired in the heat, drink Sattu sharbat; it relieves fatigue and is good for health.
- Gond Katira- Take 200 ml of water in a glass, add one spoon of sugar powder, squeeze one lemon and add a pinch of black salt, now add the soaked gond katira to it. Mix the prepared drink well and enjoy.
- Khiré juice – Take a cucumber and cut it into pieces to blend with the peel because it contains many nutrients. Now add the juice of one lemon, a little black salt and cumin powder. We already know about its cooling properties, so do try it in this summer season.
